Down time planned for UTS services

Beginning at 5 p.m. March 17, the Ohio State Web server (www.osu.edu) will not accept ftp connections (updates from Web page owners) while files are moved to a new server. Ftp access will be restored by 10 a.m. March 20.

Browsers can still access Web pages during the changeover, except for intermittent outages that could occur on March 18 and 19 while file pointers are updated.

Beginning at 11:59 p.m. March 17, e-mail service on the UTS Postbox system and ResNet access in the residence halls will be unavailable while UTS moves equipment to new storage racks in the machine room.

Service should be restored within two hours.

Intermittent outages of all Internet services for the entire campus also will occur starting at 11:59 p.m. March 17 and lasting until 8 a.m. March 18 while software and hardware upgrades, specifically backbone routers, are installed to the campus Internet.

During this period, different parts of campus will be disconnected from access to the campus network at different times and only for brief periods, expected to be no more than 10 minutes each. Networking staff will be working on one router at a time, so only the portion of the campus connected to each router will be affected at a time.

For more technical details, contact Jim Tufano at 292-0548 or Tufano.1@osu.edu.

The lecture will trace the evolution of the feminist poetic protest of Latin America, from its origins in Spain during the Middle Ages to contemporary times.
