The 5-mile-wide asteroid was first spotted in 1981 by Edward Bowell, a friend and colleague of Slettebak's who worked at the Anderson Mesa Station of Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Ariz. The International Astronomical Union recently christened the asteroid 9001 Slettebak at Bowell's request. Slettebak spent 16 of his 50 years of service to the University as chair of the astronomy department. Health services awardTed Grace, director of student health services, was recently awarded the E. Dean Lovett Award from the American College Health Association (ACHA) for his contributions to the development of college health service programs.
