Tuskegee president to talk on leadershipBenjamin F. Payton, President of Tuskegee University, will present"The Leader Within You" from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Jan. 25 in 200 Campbell Hall. A reception will follow. The Fourth Annual Lena C. Bailey Lecture on Leadership, sponsored by the College of Human Ecology and the Office of Minority Affairs, is open to the campus community. Estate planning part of Extension seriesTo help people learn more about estate planning issues and the types of questions they should ask professionals while developing their plans, Ohio State Extension is sponsoring an Estate Planning Workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 24, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7 at the Granville Inn in Granville. The series will cover the legal framework in which estate planning takes place in Ohio and some of the basics; trusts and life insurance; and long-term care insurance and distribution of personal property. The workshop will be limited to the first 60 registrants. Registration for the three days is $60 per person or $108 for two. The price includes lunches and two textbooks. The cost for attending only one day is $25 per person. The deadline for registration is Jan. 17. Lecture sheds light on concrete buildingsAnne M. Ellis will present"Concrete Buildings 2001" at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in 030 Hitchcock Hall. The lecture will address what is new in concrete buildings through case studies of current projects and issues that arise out of the new International Building Code. As Eastern United States Regional Structural Engineer with the Portland Cement Association, Ellis provides technical assistance in all areas of building design to engineers, architects, contractors, owners and universities. OSU nights with the Blue Jackets setAll Ohio State faculty, staff, students and their guests are invited to attend a Columbus Blue Jackets hockey game on Jan. 15, Feb. 6 or Feb. 28. The Blue Jackets are offering a ticket discount for those games, with seats in area"D" (center) available for $22 and in area"E" (behind the net) for $17. Seats in"D" usually cost $43, while seats in"E" usually cost $32. A $3 handling fee will be assessed for each order. Participants needed for eye studyWhen you read, do you experience eyestrain, headaches, tired eyes, blurred vision, poor concentration, frequent loss of place? Do the words keep moving, jumping or appearing to float on the page? You may be eligible to participate in a NIH-sponsored research study comparing treatments for an eye-teaming problem called convergence insufficiency. Qualified persons 9 to 30 years of age will receive a free treatment program, lasting 12 weeks with a six-month follow-up exam.
