During its May 4 meeting, the University Board of Trustees approved the appointment of members to various committees and as representatives to other University-affiliated boards as follows:

  • Student and Educational Affairs: Robert M. Duncan, chair; Tamala Longaberger, vice chair; Daniel M. Slane; Kevin R. Filiatraut; new student trustee (to be appointed).
  • Student Advising Ad Hoc Committee: Longaberger, chair; Duncan, vice chair; new student trustee.

New endowed funds total $3.4 million

Twenty new named endowed funds totaling $3.4 million were established by trustees. A $1.5 million gift from an anonymous donor has established The Warner Woodring Chair in History in the College of Humanities. Income from the gift will be used to recruit and/or retain a distinguished scholar in American and British history. Funds accepted are:

  • The Robert H. Rainier Endowed Chair Fund in Industrial Veterinary Medicine and Research, $585,046.
  • Baseball Athletic Scholarship Fund, $300,000.
  • Baseball Support Fund, $250,000.
  • The Dale A. Seiberling Excellence in Dairy and Food Engineering Program Fund, $150,000.
  • The Younkin Success Center Tutoring Services Endowed Fund, $118,455.
  • The Lena Charles Bailey Breast Cancer Research Endowment Fund, $115,000.
  • COBA/Select Sires Dairy Cattle Research Fund, $50,000.
  • The Williard A. Staker Memorial Scholarship Fund, $30,300.
  • The Rita Downey Isaly Innovative Cancer Research Endowment Fund, $30,005.
  • The Twyford and Donahey Scholarship Fund, $30,000.
  • The Jack and Frances"Babs" Fruth Scholarship Fund, $29,719.
  • The Shumaker Loop & Kendrick Scholarship Fund, $29,500.
  • The Marlo Sandow Wurster Memorial Scholarship Fund, $29,198.
  • The Honorable John D. Judge Scholarship Fund, $26,500.
  • The Ague/ Haushalter Scholarship Fund, $25,701.
  • The William Chaney Vance Athletic Scholarship Fund, $25,546.
  • The Arthur H. Dierker Scholarship Fund, $25,400.
  • The Donny R. and G. Jeanne Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund, $25,315.
  • The Jeffrey A. Uhlenhake Athletic Scholarship Fund, $25,217.
