NotablesARL appointmentJoseph Branin, director of University Libraries, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors for the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). Branin provides leadership for one of the largest university libraries systems in the nation. He came to Ohio State in 2000 from SUNY-Stony Brook. Branin has been a consultant to many libraries and has overseen grants from the U.S. Department of Education, the New Media Center, the Council for Library Resources and the Bush Foundation dealing with the introduction of new information technologies to libraries. ARL is a not-for-profit membership organization of over 120 libraries of North American institutions that operates as a forum for the exchange of ideas and an agent for collective action. WOSU EmmyWOSU-TV received two nominations in the 37th Annual Midwestern Emmy Award competition when nominations were announced last spring. At the ceremony at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati on June 23, WOSU was presented with an Emmy Award in the Interview/Discussion category for Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: A Family Conversation.
