The Ohio State School of Music and the Jefferson Academy of Music will sponsor Jefferson at OSU-Pre-College Music, a comprehensive mix of private and group lessons, musicianship classes, chamber music and performance opportunities. Starting in January, the program will offer beginning piano classes to adults on Wednesday evenings, and to children in grades K-4 on Tuesday afternoons/early evenings. All lessons and classes will take place in Hughes and Weigel halls and will continue through spring quarter. Registrations will be accepted as long as space is available. New Year’s Eve party planned at Ohio UnionThe University will host an international New Year’s Eve Party in the Ohio Union on Dec. 31. “Times Square at the Ohio Union” will be held from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. in the west and east ballrooms and will feature world music by D.J. Ramon “Ray” Arebalo, Ritmo Productions. The event is open to American and international students and scholars, as well as to staff and faculty and their families. Food and beverages will be provided at this alcohol-free event. Admission is $1, with proceeds benefiting Children’s Hospital in Columbus, in support of their efforts to provide medical care for children from around the world. Tickets are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis from the Office of International Education in 100 Oxley Hall, the Buckeye Village Office, the Jones Graduate Tower reception desk, and the Ohio Union information counter. If tickets are not pre-purchased, availability for the night’s event may be confirmed on Dec. 31 at http://www.oie.ohio-state.edu/special_events/NewYear/new_year.asp. Numerous Ohio State units are collaborating to host the event, which is part of the Student Affairs Late Night Programming Initiative. Supporting units include the offices of International Education, International Affairs and Minority Affairs, student government groups, and OSU Police. Register for electronic W-2 by Jan. 9Faculty, staff and student employees who wish to receive Form W-2 (Wage and Tax Statement) electronically through personal or work e-mail accounts for this tax season must register by Jan. 9. Benefits of online delivery include faster delivery time, ability to import data into tax preparation software, security and ease of information storage and download, and discounts on TurboTax software. For more information on the benefits and security of this option, view the article “Ohio State employees can now receive W-2 forms online” in the Nov. 21 issue of onCampus at www.osu.edu/oncampus. Those who wish to continue to receive their W-2 by U.S. mail need not take any action. 'Dates and Data' gets word to students“Dates and Data,” the planner made by students for students, is gearing up for the 2003-04 academic year with its 51st edition. Resource and service departments can reach students by advertising in the publication. The planner is created by the Ohio Union Activities Board and will be available in all major bookstores and for purchase at orientation to more than 6,000 incoming freshmen.
