Recognitions

Stephen Bechtel, Mechanical Engineering, was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of continuum mechanics.

Jacqueline Buell, Human Nutrition, was recognized at the OSU Technology Enhanced Learning and Research Courseware Development Grant Showcase, for her dynamic teaching tool created to facilitate comprehension of the major pathways for metabolism of macronutrients at the cellular level, Nov. 25, 2003.

Robert A. Buerki, Pharmacy, has been inducted as an honored member of the Académie International d'Histoire de la Pharmacy. His formal induction by President of the Académie W.-D. Müller-Jahncke, will take place in Edinborough, 2005.

Kristin Casper, Pharmacy, will be awarded the 2004 Elan Biopharmaceuticals Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award for invocative practice activities which have resulted in improved patient counseling, by the Ohio Pharmacists Association, April 16.

John D. Chovan, College of Engineering Technical Communication Resource Center, was elevated to the grade of senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.

Robert S. Dixon, chief research engineer for the Office of the CIO and OARnet, was elected to the grade of senior member by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE). Senior member is the highest professional grade for which application may be made and requires experience reflecting professional maturity.

Louise Douce, Counseling and Consultation Service, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors, at their annual meeting Nov. 11, 2003. The award is given to those who have provided exemplary leadership in the field of college and university counseling centers, influenced the field of counseling center work, provided national service, served as mentors and role models for colleagues and manifest a high level of professional integrity and ethical sensibility.

Karen Holbrook, University President, was presented with the Director's Award from the Ohio Department of Drug and Alcohol Addiction Services (ODADAS) at the Adam's Mark Hotel, Columbus, Dec. 10, 2003.

Minnie Holmes-McNary, Human Nutrition, was invited to take part in the Ohio State Teaching Enhancement Program (OSTEP), a program that works to enhance teaching at Ohio State, June 3, 2003.

Jacqueline Jones Royster, Humanities and English, is the fourteenth recipient of the Conference on College Composition and Communication's Exemplar Award. It is presented to "a person who serves as an example for our members and who represents the highest ideals of scholarship, teaching, and service to the entire profession" and will be presented March 25; she also was invited to a signing of her book, Profiles of Ohio Women, 1803-2003 (Athens: Ohio University Press, 2003), in Chillicothe at the Lucy Ware Webb Hayes Heritage Center as part of their last celebration of their last bicentennial event.  During the event, Mayor Margaret F. Planton, the first female mayor of Chillicothe, presented her with a proclamation naming Dec. 6, 2003, "Dr. Jackie Royster Day" in Chillicothe.

Sandy Krulikoski-Walden, Graduate School, was recognized as a Wellness Ambassador for winter quarter by the Faculty and Staff Wellness Program.
